WANA (Jan 11) – In an interview, Major General Amir Gholamalian, Commander of the Southeastern Regional Headquarters of the Iranian Army, discussed the strength of Iran’s military forces, particularly the Army Ground Forces. He stated that despite the regional and international threats facing the country, the Iranian Army’s strong presence along the five borders ensures power and security.

He emphasized, “Thanks to the powerful presence of the Army Ground Forces at the five borders, we have full control and security over our borders. With our exceptional mobility and speed, we can swiftly deploy wherever a threat emerges and neutralize it.”

Major General Gholamalian further declared that Iran would demonstrate its full capabilities to enemies who continue to issue threats, asserting, “What they know of our strength is far less than what they don’t. Today, Iran’s ability to deter threats is very high. We are fully capable of monitoring and surveying our borders. No movement beyond our borders escapes the watchful eyes of our border guards.”

He stressed that all enemy threats and rhetoric are met with defensive, security, and offensive military drills, especially by the Army, where they showcase their capabilities. This, he said, is a clear message to anyone eyeing Iran’s borders that any attempt to violate them is an illusion. “The Army Ground Forces, with full authority, will continue to ensure power and security in the region, following the constitutional duties entrusted to them,” he affirmed.

Regarding the Army’s equipment, Major General Gholamalian revealed that the tools and devices used by the Iranian Army for defending land, air, and sea borders are completely domestically produced. He explained that the era of sanctions has taught them that, to preserve their defensive power, they must rely on their youth and cutting-edge technology.

“The Army Ground Forces’ weapons and equipment for border protection are entirely designed, developed, and manufactured by our domestic specialists and young forces, with support from the Ministry of Defense and the armed forces,” he added.

The commander also highlighted that advanced technology is used in every aspect of border protection, including the construction of walls, border sensors, watchtowers, optical fibers, and all necessary physical security measures, especially along the eastern borders.

“We have the advanced capability to detect even the slightest movements and private discussions of the enemy through electronic warfare systems and eavesdropping technologies,” said Major General Gholamalian. “There’s no meeting that the enemy holds where we are unaware of its contents. This shows our progress in the realm of technology and science.”

He went on to stress that Iran is implementing intelligent defense strategies to secure its borders. “If today our enemies have been forced to bow down, it is because of the power we have in the field of deterrence, and we hope to continue this path until the end,” he stated.

On the importance of border closure, Major General Gholamalian said, “The first priority in border protection is the duty assigned to us by the Supreme Leader of the Revolution.” He explained that the task of securing borders with Afghanistan is a top responsibility, and four engineering units of the Army are working with speed and efficiency to carry out this mission, exceeding the projected timelines.

He concluded by emphasizing the crucial role that border closure plays in ensuring long-term security in the eastern part of the country. This includes monitoring illegal border crossers and controlling security-related groups. “The closure of the borders will play an irreplaceable role in securing the east, both in terms of managing illegal traffic and addressing security issues,” he affirmed.
